Plaid, spots and custard!

Though it doesn't look it in the five minutes these photos were taken, today was actually very grey and cloudy, even with some storms thrown in for good measure! Hence why my dog, Amber, felt it necessary to oversee my photographic activity. If a few raindrops even thought about falling down, she'd chase them away!

Good intent

This is my favourite pin. I love the style of filigree, which involves fine threads of metal being stitched and soldered into lace-like patterns. My Nanna handed this down to me when I was younger, and while I have no idea about its age or price, it is very valuable to me. I always have my eye out for any similar pieces. The only problem is that since it's so delicate, I'm constantly afraid I'll damage it, so it rarely gets worn. However, today, I felt I needed the boost in moral to start some studying!

I'm quite happy with my hair set! I did it on Sunday and it's held up till today!

I need a dollar

Hello everyone!
Thankyou to everyone for voting in my little poll, as voted for, here's a combined out-and-about and outfit post!
I hope all your weeks have kicked off smoothly, I unfortunately started mine with a rather heavy assessment, but then followed it today with some luxurious window-shopping with the girls!
The plan was to purchase lovely Lauren's belated birthday present from Tiffany's, but on the way, why not stroll and enjoy the view?
First up, a quick pose for the papparazi! (A near death experience when you do this in a busy city drive-way!)
Next, hit the streets! Prada had a wonderful window display, harking back to the golden age of flying!

Outside Tiffany & Co.

After 12... things started getting silly (I blame the refinement required for luxury goods)!

We hid in the Christmas decorations department and pretended we were invited to a ball!
I had a tea with my topless friend on the right...

...before heading home!

It was a little tiring, but a lot of fun! I cannot wait to do it again.

Exhausted from a big day with the girls! Time for a well-deserved nap!
Lots of love!

Seeker, Lover, Keeper

Been listening to this band non-stop, so I thought I'd share a bit with you all. I find their music wonderous and can't wait to see them in concert. I apologise for the lack of interesting posts lately, I've got a large assessment due on Monday, but after that, I'll have a break and I'll be back!

Just trying to start writing again; here's a little piece. I'd really like to hear what you think. Thankyou for reading.

Let's get together again

Tried a new hair set on the weekend and wore it to a Sunday showing of The Help with my Mum and Big Sister.

The Hair
For a change, I attempted the 1940's soft style from Beauty is a thing of the past.

When you first begin trying, pin curls can be quite overwhelming. My advice is to watch some youtube videos (there are lots out there) and once you have learnt the general knack, try some more complex styles. This is where pin-curls sets come in handy, as they tell you how to lay the curls and how to brush them out in order to create new looks.
Here's an example of how I curled my hair in this weekend. The purple are the curls laying towards my face and the pink represent the curls running the opposite direction, away from my face. (Normally I roll them flat and towards my face, a.k.a. all purple).
Damn, that looks sexy.
Here are the after photos, excuse the no-makeup-tired face

I found this set did create a certian wave, what do you think?

The Help
I really enjoyed this movie! Not only was the costuming and set-design lovely eye-candy, but the story is intelligent and well-thought out. It acknowledges both the dark-side of humanity and the resilience of those targeted, reminding movie-goers to respect each other and push for positive change.

Giant Pants

Just like Quincy, I'm obsessed with Giant Pants of the '30s. (A bit off-track, but Quincy's blog Q's Daydream Vintage has got to be one of my favourite inspiration blogs. Each week she posts amazing pictures with fantastic themes, perfect if you're feeling a bit hum-drum on a Friday.) So, when she mentioned this tumblr, I was in love. I mean, check them out!
But wait, there's more! Literally that night, after browsing for hours on Giant Pants, I found this jumpsuit in Sportsgirl and my dreams were made.
Not only did I purchase this superb (and utterly comfortable) romper, but I also snagged a pair of long, wide-legged pants, marked down from half price to a quarter of the retail price! I think it's a sign... Wide-legged pants of the world, come, let me embrace you.

Oh, and I did my nails too! xox

Oh-oh, I'm falling in love again!

Look what finally came in the post today!
*squeals of excitement*
Angel Adoree's The Vintage Tea Party Book! Sorry the photos are horrible, I will do a in-depth review once I have a chance to start cooking, but I just couldn't wait to give you a look. I've heard so many great things about this book and holding it in my hands is bliss; the food looks scrumptious but I'd buy it for the illustrations alone!

Oh please world, give me a decent break soon so I can start guilt-free reading and cooking!

Women are like canoes full of soup...

... at first everyone is suspicious, but after a while, they all want one!
- Dylan Moran
As you may have guessed, I saw Dylan Moran last week and had a jolly good time. His cynical and often bizarre humour is the perfect remedy to weeks of assessments piling up. I was inspired to mimic Marlene Dietrich's famous tuxedo look (with mixed success, especially with blurry night photography!).

On a balcony in summer air

( Well... not quite summer, but I had to throw in a little Taylor Swift somewhere and this was definately a brilliant way to kick off spring!)
This weekend I was lucky enough to celebrate the 21st of one of my dearest friends, Miss Lauren. On a perfectly-blue-skied Saturday we all gathered to wish her well and dine on a delightful high tea!
Just a taste of the fine dining! Lauren made these herself (including the roses), aren't they darling? If I remember rightly, they were vanilla bean with a soft meringue icing! Her dedication to detail and eye for style means everything she creates mirrors a Martha Stewart magazine!

An outfit shot!
I wore a 1950's dress from etsy with shoes from Forever New

Big hugs!
Can you spot me?

100 years

I have no idea what this is advertising, but you have to admit it's quite entertaining!
